Color or Collage

We were working on a Surreal-ish collage in an introduction to Photoshop. Go back to this idea or project and either;

1.  post what you have created so far with notes about what you want(ed) to do. 
2. Use another design program to complete it

Focus on your use of color and mental health!
Several Artists and Art-houses have "coloring" books, pages etc.. available to either download and add color digitally or print out and color in by hand.   Post what you create and what you did to get there.

Learning about Graphic design is still possible

Many of us will not have access to the computer graphic industry standard Adobe Creative Cloud software using Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom or InDesign anymore, though some still might.  Many of us are not using the newest computers with the fastest internet connections making "Computer Graphic Design" impossible, though some may be able to use alternative software. We are also going to be exploring alternative, non computer, ways for learning about Graphic Design.

USING A COMPUTER to create graphics:Free Computer Graphics Software
There are some free access to either open-source or limited versions of Graphic Software online. Each one is similar and different than Illustrator and Photoshop.
Here are the introductory videos for a few different ones.  Watch the intro. tutorial and decide if one of these will work for you. Download one and test it out.

After you play around with a software for a bit, consider replicating or improving or changing something like your LOGO Make a blog entry as a review or "critique" of the software.

and NOT USING A COMPUTER to create graphics:
In a time long ago (not so long for your ancient art teacher) Graphic Designs were created with the use of the hand, pencil, ruler, graph and tracing paper, paint, and on and on.
Here are some different introductory tutorials for you to check out.  BUT if you want to get going making/learning Graphic Design without a computer then get a few things: pens/pencils of all sorts, paper- thick+thin, magazines, newspaper, scissors, glue stick... and a space on a table to work.

1. Copy the layout of the cover of a magazine, but call it something opposite like "OUTSIDE" magazine becomes "INSIDE" or "DOG FANCY magazine becomes "DOG SLOUCHY" and re-caption the articles that are listed on the cover, keeping them in the same location.  Imagine and articulate what the cover photograph would be an image of. Post these sketches on you blog- if you can photograph your idea, DO IT!
2. Take a favorite book and re-make the cover using cut out letters and images from a magazine and newspaper. Do the front and back cover, post this on your blog.

Extended School Closure and What you can DO!

Hello Dear Students and your families! 

The number one priority is to take care of yourself and your loved ones in these unusual times. I want to let you know what I will be doing about grades, projects, etc. for our classes.

1. There is a request to PPS IT to try and get them to let students use their PPS login to access the Adobe Creative Suite at home. I will update this blog when that actually happens.
2. All projects will be assigned through our class blog and Google Classroom and listed in Synergy! all students need to post their projects on your own blog site or as the assignment dictates.
3. Grades should be updated in Synergy!, but PLEASE email me if there is an assignment you have finished and posted and want me to see and update in your grade. Do look if there is a comment from me, sometimes I DO see your post and perhaps it is missing something...?
4. Enjoy this time as an opportunity to create, rest and enjoy the beautiousness of spring while, of course, social distancing!
